Three Incredible Night Life Spots in Istanbul

By Phineas Upham

Istanbul’s nightlife is a huge scene. Some of the bars and clubs operating within city limits have been doing so for more than 30 years, so they’ve perfected the art of partying in one of the most beautiful cities on Earth. There are essentially two sides to Istanbul’s nightlife, Western and Eastern (European and Asian), both offering incredible sights and sounds. With this guide, you’ll find three amazing spots you absolutely must visit when you head to Istanbul.

Bar Hopping

Kadikoy Street has a lot to offer in terms of bars. The locals car it “Barlar Sokak”, which literally means “Bar Street”, and it’s not too far from Moda. It’s a narrow street, but the charm is hard to escape. Bars line the walls, mixed in with live music clubs and colorful gardens. It’s also quite close to a “little” bar street, where there are even more clubs. It’s a more intimate atmosphere, but it’s just the thing for early evening partying or going out with a date.

Anjelique

On the shores of the Bosphorus, there is a three story mansion with an incredible view of the water. That mansion has been converted into Anjelique, a hip and dynamic bar with several outdoor sections that are perfect to take in the night. The food, cocktails and music are all very trendy.

Babylon for Live Music

Babylon tickets tend to sell quickly, but they offer a show nearly every night so there is ample time to get in if you check their website. You occasionally get lucky with some smaller acts, usually local, and can get tickets at the box office.  It’s a hang out that has become critical to Istanbul’s night life, and a center for the music scene developing there.
